  • What is a truss?

Residential roof trusses are an engineered product designed to carry roof or floor loads out to bearings. According to Fixr, roof trusses are 30% cheaper than post-and-beam construction. A truss is manufactured from custom-cut components, which are connected together using metal truss plates.

  • How can I check the lead times for trusses?

Contact us for a status update on your roof trusses. One of our friendly staff members will be happy to help you.

  • How do I handle any problems with my trusses after they are delivered?

Dogtown Truss & Components has staff on hand seven days a week to handle your calls. If you have a damaged truss and/or detail where the damage is on the "Spec sheet," call and talk with one of our team members. Learn more about residential trusses when you call us.

  • Can I get a truss representative out to my job site if needed?

Truss reps are available if there is a major problem. Most problems can be handled over the phone or with a Dogtown team member. Get in touch with us about roof trusses.

  • Can I get my truss package delivered directly to my job site?

Yes, Dogtown Truss & Components delivers roof trusses.

  • How do I start a quote from Dogtown Truss & Components?

You can fill out a quote form on this website by clicking on "Request Proposal." If your plan has been done electronically, you may email it to admin@dogtowntruss.com. You can also call the office about residential trusses, and we can send a runner by to pick up the plans.

  • If I add on to my house, can trusses be used to match up with the existing roofing?

In most cases, roof trusses work great on additions. Some additional measurements may be needed to ensure that the new trusses blend in with the old framing. Span, heel height, pitch, and overhang length may need to be verified.

  • What is a roller gantry?

A roller gantry is a rolling press head that travels over a wood truss assembly tabletop. The roller, when passing over wood members with metal gusset plates in their proper place, applies uniform pressure to embed the metal gusset plates to connect the wood members and form a truss. To learn more about roller gantries and residential trusses, get in touch with our team.

  • I have an addition, and I want to use trusses. What information do you need?

Additions to existing structures need special consideration when using roof trusses. If the new roof structure is intended to match the existing one, we recommend a call to schedule an appointment with one of our sales representatives.
